Yoga Sequencing with Katy Fox
“…for being so in the clustering thick of things, rapt and enwrapped in the rising and falling real world.”
– Annie Dillard, Pilgrim at Tinker Creek
“We have a continual renewal of choice; what we have not is any assurance that we will choose best.”
– Don Juanne, Job’s Body
I am continuing my study of yoga sequencing under the guidance and teaching of Judith Hirt.
Please join me twice a month for the Sunday 11am Gentle Asana class to see what I'm up to and how this translates into a practice!
Working from a given 'seed' practice and parameters, I am exploring:
- Understanding the natural directions of and generation of movement in the body
- Understanding what constitutes a 'best' choice, ideally discovering that as the only next true movement.
- How the above is expressed in the 'blueprints' of asanas
- The continuum and gap between intention and action, specifically in practice, planning and in teaching.
- Spinal suggestions of direction and movement
- Transitions that balance our joints and tone
- Effects of asanas in sequence, and how effects change depending on what has been practiced before or after.
Student comments are welcome and encouraged!
Please share your experience and your feedback about the sequence and teaching.
